Concussions are common in motor vehicle accidents and many times go unnoticed by medical personnel. It is important to determine if you have had a concussion because you are at increased risk of serious injury called second impact syndrome if you have another head injury before the original concussion heals. Serious concussions can even cause cognitive deficits.

PIC has sports medicine specialists that have extensive training in assessing and treating concussions. We also have a neuropsychologist that works with a team of different professionals that can provide rehabilitation for more serious traumatic brain injuries.

In addition, many patients that have prolonged recovery from their injuries or have economic stressors due to their inability to work can develop depression or anxiety disorders. Treatment of these conditions can often help the recovery process. PIC physicians have assessment tools to determine if you develop symptoms or need treatment.
